What makes Henderson a family-friendly community?
Even though it’s located close to the Las Vegas Strip, Henderson isn’t what my clients would expect. It is a remarkable destination for luxury home buyers and is considered one of the best cities to raise a family. In addition to its secure high-end neighborhoods, it offers lower taxes, breathtaking views, easy airport access, and distinctive lifestyle amenities for all ages.
Driving around the city, you immediately notice the different environment from its neighboring metropolitan area. The lush tree-lined streets and greenery give it a traditional small-town feel. It is ranked as one of the most walkable, safest, and best places to live in the country.
One deciding factor for my clients is the quality of education. Henderson is known for its top-rated public and private schools, consistently outperforming state standards in proficiency tests. The school district has 113 schools, sixty private, forty public, and thirteen charter schools.
The city hosts annual, seasonal, and rich cultural events throughout the year that are geared toward families, including numerous concert series, movie nights in the park, pool parties, and Henderson Hot Rod Days. Family attractions include the Clark County Heritage Museum, Lion Habitat Ranch, Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve, and Ethel M Chocolates & Botanical Cactus Garden. For the sports-minded, you can take in one of the Henderson Silver Knights 37 home games in the new Dollar Loan Center arena on Green Valley Parkway. The American Hockey League team is owned and operated by the Las Vegas Golden Knights. It is also home to the Las Vegas Raiders practice facility, across the street from the Henderson Executive Airport.
I’ve found some of my favorite off-Strip dining options in Henderson. The Pasta Shop Ristorante on Horizon Ridge serves Italian-inspired mouth-watering dishes for lunch and dinner. Plus, they have several enticing vegan options. Other extraordinary local eateries include Lindo Michoacan featuring gourmet Mexican cuisine, Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana, and Anthony’s Prime Steak & Seafood in the M Resort.
Henderson’s luxury communities, such as MacDonald Highlands, Ascaya, and Seven Hills, provide family-friendly amenities behind secure gates. Ascaya’s developer recently spent approximately $8 million to design and build an 81,000-square-foot community park with a splash pad, playground, grilling station, and dog park.
