The Latest Luxury Design Trends for 2022
1. Divided Space
In the recent past, open spaces were a common theme. That, too, is changing quickly, according to designers, in part, because the pandemic has transformed the home into a multifunctional space where different members of the household need to work, learn, play, and recharge, sometimes all at the same time. These new requirements are met by a floor plan that allows for dedicated spaces and privacy. A closed floor plan can be created by adding walls to make more actual rooms or by using dividers to create more nooks and a cozier feel. A wine wall can separate a dining room from a living room, or a floor-to-ceiling
2. Luxurious Bathrooms
Because of the pandemic, the home is increasingly becoming a sanctuary, and luxury homes are incorporating bathrooms that allow people to shake off the day's stresses and recharge. Bathrooms are evolving into large and well-designed spaces that provide a spa-like feel for luxury homeowners.
Luxury bathroom interior design includes high-level finishes, earthy stones, elegant fixtures, and layered lighting, large showers with multiple shower head options, and soaker tubs. Expect larger vanities with plenty of space for getting ready, as well as steam rooms or saunas within the bathroom.
3. Natural Colors and Raw Materials
We are increasingly seeking nature and bringing elements of it indoors after spending so much time under lockdown. Natural stones and raw pieces, such as terracotta, marbles, cement, and travertine, can be found on walls, backsplashes, and decor items.
Colors found in nature also contribute to a sense of serenity and warmth. Rich browns, neutrals, cognacs, greens, and burnt umber can help ground and cozy up a space.
4. Opulent kitchens
Larger, sleeker kitchens are popular, with many featuring double islands or dual spaces - a chef's kitchen for food preparation and a family dining kitchen. Large walk-in pantries with plenty of storage space are in demand. Kitchens will be more functional and will incorporate new technology, such as touchless and interactive appliances, as well as digital robot assistants that respond to commands. They will have storage areas for large appliances such as mixers and blenders, while other appliances such as coffee makers will be built into the design for a sleeker and cleaner finish.
5. Minimalistic Art & Eco-Friendly Décor
According to Tania Richardson of Tomas Pearce Interior Design, line art, influenced by artists such as Henri Matisse, and neutral, abstract canvases reflect a more minimalist mindset, which can also be seen in vases, and side tables, and simple light fixtures.
As concerns about climate change grow, sustainable practices are becoming more popular. More eco-friendly manufacturing and repurposed materials, such as recycled tiles, are becoming popular.
