Community involvement comes in many forms. You can attend a neighborhood event or spend time serving a favorite cause. I recommend clients moving to the valley find a way to connect in some capacity to the area they’ve chosen to live and work.

I’ve highlighted below some of the upcoming opportunities to volunteer and a selection of Fall Events in Downtown Summerlin and Henderson’s The District in Green Valley.

Volunteer

The annual Make a Difference Day is Saturday, October 28. It serves as a reminder to make a positive impact in our communities. You can support local organizations in several ways, such as The Animal Foundation, Three Square Foot Bank, and Opportunity Village.

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area uses volunteers from the Friends of Red Rock Canyon organization to staff its Information Desk, help care for the Tortoises, and perform other tasks as needed.

The non-profit Get Outdoors Nevada connects people to the outdoors through education, service, and community engagement. It is a great way to participate in keeping the State of Nevada beautiful.

Summerlin Events

The Las Vegas Farmers Market fills the Pavilion with enticing aromas of fresh bread and pastries every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The New Vista Wine Walk is September 30, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in The Pavilion at Downtown Summerlin. The event hosts over 18 tasting stations accompanied by live entertainment.

Downtown Summerlin hosts the festive, family-friendly Parade of Mischief Every Friday and Saturday in October as a prelude to Halloween. The festivities offer ghoulish fun with all new entries, including an alien pod, a Dia de los Muertos float, and the Addams Family entry.

The Summerlin Library Annual October Fall Festival and Craft Fair is on October 7. The Fair festivities include live music, food trucks, pumpkin decorating, face painters, stilt walkers, and jugglers.

The Summerlin Festival of Arts celebrates its 27th year on the lawn of Downtown Summerlin. From October 13 through 15, the annual event features three days of entertainment for all ages.

The Las Vegas Farmers Market fills the Summerlin Pavilion each Saturday with tasty and unique offerings. Fresh bread, pastries, healthy fresh fruits and vegetables, and local crafts are displayed every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Vintage Market Days of Southern Nevada takes over the lawn at Downtown Summerlin for its annual three-day event from October 27 through 29. The upscale vintage-inspired market features art, antiques, clothing, handmade treasures and more.

The District At Green Valley Ranch

The District’s Farmers Market is open every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Shoppers can select from various farm-fresh produce alongside baked goods and crafts.

Every Saturday through October, The District hosts Movies on the Green. Upcoming titles include The Super Mario Brothers, Batman Returns, The Little Mermaid, and Hotel Transylvania. The movies are free and open to the public, but reservations are encouraged if you want a good seat.

Join the District on September 30 for the annual Makers Hive Market. The free event features local small businesses and retail stores with photos, crafts, and food. It is fun for the entire family and dog-friendly.
